Court upholds Greenville man's 2010 murder conviction

TEXARKANA - Joshua William Lay was sentenced to 30 years in prison for killing Darrell Wayne Fegget. Lay claimed the death was in self defense.

In his appeal, brought before the Sixth Court of Appeals in Texarkana, argued there was insufficient evidence to establish that he intentionally or knowingly killed Fegget and that the trial court should have included manslaughter as a lesser included offense.

On Tuesday, the appeals court overruled Lay’s claims.
