By Brent Lyday

Dallas – The Dallas Independent School District is recognizing Dr. Rosie Sorrells, an education trailblazer and Texas A&M University-Commerce alumna, for a lifetime of service to children and public education with a naming ceremony on Friday, Nov. 5 at 2 p.m.

Sorrells will be honored with the Rosie Sorrells School of Edcuation and Social Services at the Yvonne E. Ewell Townview Center.

Sorrells graduated from A&M-Commerce with her master's degree in 1969, which helped prepare her for a career as a Dallas ISD teacher, head of the district's Early Childhood Education department and member of the Texas State Board of Education. She has since retired.
