Dallas Wings All Around Night Leads to Stampede Over LA Sparks (Slideshow)

The Dallas Wings (6-5) decimated the Los Angeles Sparks (9-3) Friday, 101-72, at the College Park Center.

Dallas never trailed the entire game, led by Liz Cambage’s game-high 20 points and 5 rebounds. All around contributions came from rookie Azura Stevens, making her first pro start, who added 13 points and 6 rebounds. Allisha Gray scored 15 points, and Aerial Powers had her biggest game since returning to the court with 16 points and 8 rebounds off the bench. Nneka Ogwumike was the leading scorer for the Sparks with 17 points, and a quiet 9 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists from Candace Parker.

“I think, again, it just falls to energy. We just came out, we had a lot of energy and were really excited and it’s easier to do that when you have a home crowd,” Stevens said. “We’ve got to be able to foster that when we’re on the road when we don’t have a lot of fans.”

The Sparks couldn’t get anything to fall from beyond the arc as they went 3-for-15 from 3-point range, shooting just 20% for the game. The Wings hand the best team in the league just their 3rd loss of the season.

Dallas must now quickly turn around and prepare for Sunday’s round two matchup against the Seattle Storm (9-4), whom they defeated just a few weeks ago at home
