Davault and Neal All-Americans

Amy Davault and Jordan Neal continue to add to their list of accolades and honors after the 2013 season. Davault and Neal earned AVCA All-America Honorable Mentions as announced by the association today.

The honors are the latest in a line of them for the two; as Davault was named AVCA All-South Central Region Honoree, LSC Newcomer of the Year and First Team All-LSC while Neal earned Setter of the Year in the LSC, First Team All-LSC, Daktronics Second Team All-Region and AVCA All-South Central Region Honoree. 

Davault and Neal join 27 other first time recipients across the AVCA All-America teams in 2013.

The 2013 All-America selections were made by the AVCA Division II All-America Committee: Shelton Collier, Wingate University, chairperson; Mario Andaya, Central Washington University; Laurie Lokash, Slippery Rock University; Gail Wasmus, NY Institute of Technology; Wick Colchagoff, Findlay University; Steve Wilcosky, Nova Southeastern; Will Condon, Armstrong Atlantic State University; Dave Fleming, Colorado Mesa University, Flip Piontek, University of Central Missouri.

Davault led the Lions in kills (425), kills per set (3.43) and points (470.5).  The 3.43 kills per set average ranked Davault second in the LSC this season. The Houston, Texas native was also second in digs (427), digs per set (3.44) and third in aces (27). Davault recorded 20 double-doubles on the season including a 23-kill, 22-dig performance in a five-set win over Texas Woman's on October 23. 

The 2013 season saw Neal lead the LSC in assists (1,459) and assists per set (11.77). The Joshua, Texas native was also named the LSC Co-Setter of the Week five times during the regular season. Neal was third on the Lions in digs (338), fourth in service aces (26) and accounted for the fourth most points (142.5) on the season.

Davault and Neal were two of seven LSC players to be named to the All-America teams. Laura Iwuchukwu of West Texas A&M earned Second-Team All-America honors with Lauren Bevan (West Texas A&M), Halie Harton (West Texas A&M), Madison Huth (Angelo State), Maggi Jo Keffury (Angelo State) earning honorable mentions.
