Davault, Neal honored again

The accolades keep on coming for Amy Davault and Jordan Neal as both Lions earned AVCA South Central All-Region honors.

The honors are the latest in a line of honors for the two; as Davault was named LSC Newcomer of the Year and First Team All-LSC while Neal earned Setter of the Year in the LSC, First Team All-LSC, and yesterday was honored with Daktronics Second Team All-Region.

Davault led the Lions in kills (425), kills per set (3.43) and points (470.5). The Houston, Texas native was also second in digs (427), digs per set (3.44) and third in aces (27). Davault recorded 20 double-doubles on the season including a 23-kill, 22-dig performance in a five-set win over Texas Woman's on October 23.

The 2013 season saw Neal lead the LSC in assists (1,459) and assists per set (11.77). The Joshua, Texas native was also named the LSC Co-Setter of the Week five times during the regular season. Neal was third on the Lions in digs (338), fourth in service aces (26) and accounted for the fourth most points (142.5) on the season.

Neal also became the Lions all-time leader in assists, passing Melissa Staiger's record of 3,843, and became the first Lion to reach 4,000 assists for a career (4,503). Neal became just the fifth Lion volleyball player to record at least 1,000 in two categories with her 4,503 assists and 1,043 digs in her career. The 1,043 digs puts Neal in eighth on the career digs list, just one dig away from seventh.  In addition to her assist and dig marks, Neal also ranks third in service aces in a career with 133.

Davault and Neal were two of seven Lone Star Conference players to be named to the All-Region Team. The team is voted on by the head coaches of the regional institutions.
