Deadline approaching to sign up for NETMOB forum

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – The Third Annual Northeast Texas Regional Mobility Council Transportation Forum is fast approaching.

The annual event, held on the campus of Texas A&M University-Commerce, will inform participants about transportation issues related to the region.

NETMOB Conference Planner Brandy Bendele says this is a chance to educate the public about the true issues of transportation facing area residents. She says residents will then have a clearer picture as to how they can help in the local transportation effort.

The daylong conference will consist of a Hot Topics segment, to address Hunt County's recent induction into the Northeast Texas Council of Governments, transportation security and emergency response, and area infrastructure projects.

The event will also consist of a transportation funding session, and luncheon featuring Keynote Speaker Representative Larry Phillips, who will provide information regarding the Trans Texas Corridor.

Transportation funding will also be addressed by TxDot administrators, who will speak about the state aspect of transportation funding; the money currently available and where that money is going.

NETMOB is also working to schedule a representative from the Federal Highway Administration for audience members to get a federal perspective of transportation funding.

Each session will allow for a question and answer period for participants to express their thoughts and ideas on the discussed material.

Deadline to register for the event is July 25. Interested persons can register by visiting www.txdot.gov.
