Deliberations expected Monday in shooting case

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – Jury deliberations are expected Monday in an aggravated assault case.

Both sides rested Friday in the case of Johnny Joe Webb, the suspect alleged to have fired upon law enforcement near Royse City in 2007.

Webb took the stand in his own defense Friday claiming he never intended to shoot at any of the officers on the scene that day. An often tearful Webb said he was relieved to find no officer was injured in the incident, which left him hospitalized with a gunshot wound.

Conviction could carry a maximum sentenced of from five to 99 years to life in prison.
