Delta County Commissioners Court has unanimously voted to extend the burn ban for outdoor burning in all unincorporated areas of the County another 90 days on Monday, Dec. 4. Judge Jason Murray had enacted an emergency burn ban effective Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017 at 3 p.m.
Local volunteer fire departments have been responding to several grass fires combined with dry conditions created the need for the ban.
According to the declaration a person commits an offense if he or she burns a combustible material outside of an enclosure which serves to contain all flames and/or sparks, or orders such burning by others.
An offense under this Order is a Class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine up to $500.
