Deputies cleared in April shooting

By Kevin Jefferies

Hunt County – Three Hunt County Sheriff's deputies have been cleared of any wrong-doing in the April shooting death of a Hunt County man. The Hunt County grand jury declined to indict any of the three men from an incident which Texas Ranger investigators said was self defense.

The deputies were forced to fire on Jeffrey Allen Kravletz after Kravletz pointed a gun at them. The deputies had arrived at the scene after reports said Kravletz had been firing at houses and had wounded one man in the leg. Kravletz confronted the deputies in front the residence in the Cochise Village off FM751. The deputies were forced to open fire after Kravletz refused to lower his weapon.
