Detour on 1-30 in Greenville begins Thursday

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – More traffic changes are planned along Interstate 30 in Greenville.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and its contractor, Austin Bridge and Road have announced plans to detour the westbound interstate main lane traffic at a half-mile west of State Highway 34/Wesley Street, beginning Thursday. Traffic will be detoured onto the north Frontage Road for approximately one mile, then back onto the interstate's main lanes.

These latest changes are expected to assist in the construction of the new Monty Stratton underpass.

Beginning next Tuesday, traffic on the eastbound main lanes of Interstate 30 will be reduced down to one lane west of State Highway 34/Wesley. That phase of construction is expected to remain in effect for approximately 11 months.

Officials say both detours are necessary to facilitate the construction of Interstate 30 over Monty Stratton Parkway. Motorists are to exercise caution while traveling in the area.
