Disaster declaration issued for Hopkins County

By Scott Harvey

Sulphur Springs – Hopkins County Commissioner Cletis Millsap has issued a disaster declaration for the county due to a significant amount of rainfall as of late.

The rains have led to the loss of crops and damage to county roads and state highways. The county has even had to provide shelter to some citizens through the Salvation Army due to flooding.

The disaster declaration, which will remain in effect for the next six days, now opens the county to more state and federal government aid.
