Texas A&M University-Commerce sophomore Dorian McCradic has been named the Lone Star Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week, announced Thursday by league officials. It marks the second weekly honor of his career and the second of the season.
McCradic captured the individual title at the Southern Arkansas Lois Davis Invitational this past weekend in Magnolia, Ark. McCradic posted a season-best time of 25:33 in the 8K race and defeated the nearest competitor (teammate Everett Wilder) by 45 seconds. It is a repeat performance for McCradic who won the 2012 Lois Davis Invitational as well.
The 2012 Lone Star Conference Freshman of the Year, McCradic has been a solid competitor all season for A&M-Commerce, finishing in the top-10 in each of the season's three events. He has posted five top-five showings during his A&M-Commerce career and has been the first Lion to cross the finish line in each event in which he has competed.
With the LSC weekly honor, A&M-Commerce continues to be one of the top all-around programs in the conference through the 2013-14 athletic season, racking up 15 Player of the Week honors thus far. The Lions have had at least two players selected as their respective sport's Player of the Week each week while all seven A&M-Commerce fall sports have had at least one LSC weekly honor.
McCradic and the rest of the A&M-Commerce men's and women's cross country teams are gearing up for the 2013 Lone Star Conference Championships, which will be held in Portales, New Mexico on Saturday, Oct. 26. The men are looking to improve on their fourth-place finish in 2012 as the race in New Mexico marks the fourth state the Lions have run in this season - none of which are the state of Texas.
