Since announcing their hiatus 5 years ago, Dallas area rockers Dove Hunter have picked up the pieces, rebuilt the band and created their latest full-length record, which shows off a more mature and refined sound.

Formed around 2008, this new 4-piece iteration of the Dallas/Ft. Worth outfit released their sophomore record on Dallas' Idol Records in April. Chock full of spacey, psychedelic rock n' roll, the band shows off their chops with some complex rhythms, melodic vocals, and some nicely polished tunes on "Black Clouds Erupt Us."

Singer and guitarist Jayson Wortham, and bassist Chad DeAtely, visited the KETR Studios in Commerce to talk about the history of the band, their upcoming tour plans, and more.

More about the band Dove Hunter is available via their Facebook Page, or at their label Idol Records.

Notably Texan is heard weekdays from Noon-3pm on KETR.

Born in Dallas, Texas, Matt moved to the Sulphur Springs area in 1990 and settled in Commerce shortly thereafter. Having dreamed of working in radio since childhood, he began working at KETR while taking Radio-Television courses at Texas A&M University-Commerce in 1993. Matt has transitioned from a part-time worker and pupil of KETR, to the station’s Chief Announcer/Producer and supervisor of student broadcasters. A familiar voice of 88-9 KETR, Matt has hosted such shows as The Late Nite Lion, and can currently be heard as host of Notably Texan.
