Dozen of livestock killed in Tom Bean fire

By Scott Harvey

Tom Bean – Several dozen head of livestock were killed over the weekend after a fire destroyed a building that served the Tom Bean FFA program.

About 24 pigs are said to have perished in the blaze. Students at Tom Bean High School had been caring for the animals for several months since they received them as piglets. About 100 students are said to take part in the high school's program.

The cause of the fire is sought, although initial reports indicate it was electrical.
