Drivers to use caution during overpass demolition

By Scott Harvey

Greenville – The Texas Department of Transportation was scheduled Thursday to reduce State Highway 34/Wesley Street in Greenville to one lane in both directions where it crosses Interstate 30. Crews are preparing to demolish the existing structure and then construct a new overpass.

TxDOT is urging motorists that normally drive this roadway to consider alternate routes across Interstate 30 to avoid long delays, including FM 1570, US Highway 69/Joe Ramsey Blvd., and Highway 69/Moulton Street.

If traveling southbound, there is also the option of taking Sayle Street to the westbound frontage road, then west to Monty Stratton Parkway, to turnaround to the eastbound frontage road, then turn east to State Highway 34/Wesley Street. Those wanting to access Walmart and businesses in the Traders Road area may want to consider using US Highway 69/Joe Ramsey Blvd., then traveling south on Roy Warren parkway, then west onto Traders Road.

This current phase of the project is expected to last until the end of April. The next phase will involve the construction of concrete pavement on both sides of the interstate. Two-lane traffic to State Highway 34/Wesley Street is expected to be re-established in July.
