Drought still plagues Northeast Texas

By Kevin Jefferies

Northeast Texas – While the area has enjoyed recent rains, there hasn't been enough to relieve drought for Northeast Texas. Burn bans are still active throughout the area, and most areas that have enacted mandatory watering restrictions still have those restrictions in place.

In Commerce, watering has recently been limited to weekend nights, and City Manage Bill Shipp said those restrictions won't be lifted due to recent rain.

SHIPP:

Paris, Wolfe City, Rockwall, and other areas are also still under mandatory watering restrictions. Check with you local officials for details concerning drought contingency plans in your area.
