Drug bust near Cooper High School

By Kevin Jefferies

Cooper – Six people were arrested late last week with drug charges after a police raid on a residence near Cooper High School. The Delta County Sheriff's Department has charged three men and three women after finding the methamphetamine Ice and paraphernalia to smoke the drug in the residence in South Cooper near the high school. Delta County Sheriff Mark Bassham said the residence had been under surveillance for some time, and said a longer investigation might have resulted in a larger quantity of drugs being found, but felt the source of the drugs needed to be stopped as soon as possible.

All six were charged with possession of a controlled substance in a drug-free zone and had bond set at $50,000. The owner of the residence was also charged with possession of a controlled substance less than 1gram and had an additional bond of $25,000.
