Early voting changes in Commerce

By Kevin Jefferies

Commerce – There will be a change in voting for upcoming local elections in Commerce, and throughout most of Hunt County. The Commerce ISD and the City of Commerce will be holding a joint election. Early voting for both School Board and City elections will be held at Commerce City Hall beginning May 1st. The change comes after regulations requiring new electronic voting machines be made available for all elections.
Hunt County has purchased only enough machines to have just one available for each jurisdiction, so many areas will begin holding joint city and school elections.

Early voting for school elections in Commerce has normally been held in the district's Administration Building, but will now be held at Commerce City Hall along with early voting for Commerce city elections. Voting on election day will be held in the Commerce Middle School Library.
