Early Voting Has Commenced School, City

Early voting for the Cooper Independent School District Board of Trustees positions and City of Cooper Council positions began on Monday, April 25 through Tuesday, May 3, 2016 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the remaining 12 hour early voting day is Tuesday, May 3 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
   Early voting will take place at Cooper ISD Central Administration Office at 350 West McKinney Avenue in Cooper.

    Election Day Voting locations for Cooper ISD Board of Trustees include: City Hall in Cooper, Enloe Community Center on CR 4330, Klondike Community Center on FM 1528, Ben Franklin Community Center on FM 128 and East Delta Community Center on CR 1220 in Lake Creek.

Cooper ISD

Filing for the three full three year terms of the Cooper ISD Board of Trustees
are incumbents Kregg Slakey, Mandy Freeman, along with candidates Lea Waller and Laura Gillean. Jennie Pickering recently announced she will not be seeking election.

“I've decided not to run for the school board at this time. Please cast your votes for the other well qualified candidates,” said Jennie Pickering as stated on Facebook. “I appreciate all of the encouraging words that convinced me to run but this is not a good time. Please share so that no vote will be cast in vain.”

The election will be held in coordination with the City of Cooper set for May 7, 2016.

City of Cooper

Running for the City of Cooper three seats on the Council are the three incumbents Joann Preas, David Phillips and Willie “Bear” Wilkins and one other candidate, Amanda L'Esperance. Voting Day will Saturday, May 7, 2016 from 7 a.m. till 7 p.m. at Cooper City Hall, 91 North Side Square, Cooper. Early voting will be held at the Cooper ISD administrative office located at 350 W. McKinney for Monday, April 25, 2016 through Tuesday, May 3, 2016.

Included in the May 7 election will be the election of the Delta County MUD (Municipal Utility District) Board Director. Election Day Polling places include City of Cooper City Hall, 91 North Side Square, and East Delta Community Center in Lake Creek from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Early voting will be available at Cooper ISD Central Administration Building, 350 West McKinney, Cooper.

Delta County

The run-off for the Delta County Constable position will be held on Tuesday, May 24. Incumbent Ben Snow will face Marshall Lynch for Constable.

Early voting for the Constable race will span one week from May 16 to May 20 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Delta County Clerk’s office in the Delta County Courthouse on West Dallas Avenue. On Voting Day, Tuesday, May 24 regular polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Citizens are encouraged to participate by voting.
