The Greenville Board of Development intends to conduct closed door discussions today concerning some potential economic development projects.

The discussions might involve the proposed Splash Kingdom water park, one of the prospects listed in the items included under the executive session scheduled during today’s regular agenda, starting at 4 p.m. in Suite 804 of the Paul Mathews Exchange Building, 2500 Stonewall Street downtown.

Splash Kingdom is reportedly wanting to build a water park development as part of the Greenville Towne Center development. The Splash Kingdom proposal has been referred to under a code name of “Project Splash” as negotiations with the company have continued.

Project Splash is included among 20 prospects which are scheduled to be discussed under Section 551.087 of the Local Government Code, which allows for a “discussion or deliberation regarding commercial or financial information that the governmental body has received from a business prospect that the governmental body seeks to have locate, stay, or expand in or near the territory of the governmental body is conducting development negotiations.”

Under the same section the Board is also scheduled to discuss projects Rounder, Peary, Focus, Greenville-IPW, Lions, Nugget, NYPD, Elevator, Spark JC, Birch, Fox, Conceal, Socrates 100, Graphite Shaft, Clover, Cocktail Sauce, Greenville-McCarthy, Bread and EDC Land.

Board is also scheduled to consider an item under Section 551.074, which allows for deliberations concerning the appointment, employment, evaluation, reassignment, duties, discipline or dismissal of a public officer or employee. Should the Board decide to take any action on any of the items discussed today in executive session, it would return to the regular meeting in order to do so.
