Eighth Annual Christmas in the Park Highlights

The Eighth Annual Christmas in the Park at Cooper Lake State Park Doctors Creek Unit was held this Friday and Saturday, Dec. 12-13.  The drive through experience gave park-goers the opportunity to vote for their favorite festive campsite and cash and park pass awards were given to the top three winners.

Taking top honors was David and Sharon Johnson with their site #28 which included their horse-drawn carriage, second place to Pat Moses who was at site #17 with a fireplace and rocking chair and third place was Charles and Shonda Rutledge at site #39 with several inflatable displays and a strobe light reflecting on the trees.

Santa made a special visit along with free refreshments. The charge of $5 per vehicle went to a special donation to the Friends of Doctors Creek Park to help upgrade the shelters in the park and to help with ice storm cleanup costs from the previous year.
