Paris, Texas – An 83 year old man shot his wife, then turned the gun on himself in a community southeast of Paris Tuesday. Paris Police Department SWAT team members and the Lamar County Sheriff surrounded the home in Clardy for two hours before entering and finding Tucker Plott dead of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound. His 73 year old wife had had been shot with a small caliber rifle earlier while trying to escape the home during an altercation with her husband. She was treated at the Paris Regional Medical Center and released.
The argument apparently stemmed from a recent diagnosis of a terminal illness after a stay at a nursing home.
