Election day Saturday

By Kevin Jefferies

Commerce –

Saturday is election day. Voting in Commerce will take place at the new City Hall on Alamo Street downtown from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. For City Council, Janice Harrison and Anthony Henry face incumbent Hector Arce for Place 1, and Richard Hill faces write-in candidate Billy Reed. Commerce voters also face a school bond election for a new $14 million facility to replace A.C. Williams Elementary School.

Many districts have also called for bond issues. The list includes Caddo Mills, Paris, Celeste, Emory-Rains, and Canton.

Voters also will decide on a state constitutional amendment that will extend property tax cuts to elderly and disabled property owners.

Check with your local officials for voting locations in your area.
