Emergency burn ban lifted in Hunt County

Hunt County – Hunt County Commissioners lifted an emergency order banning all outdoor burning in Hunt County yesterday. A general outdoor burn ban remains in effect, however. The emergency order put restrictions on any type of outdoor burning, including barbecue grills and welding equipment. The general ban that remains prohibits the burning of crops, brush, and trash.

Hunt County Fire Marshall Dorsey Driggers recommended the lifting of the emergency order after rains over the weekend.

Additional funding for Hunt County Volunteer Fire Departments was also approved at yesterday's Commissioner's Court meeting. The county's 12 volunteer departments have been working nearly non-stop to contain and control wildfires lately, and will be receiving an additional $200 per month.
