Emily Elbert creates 'the music that's in her heart'

The Dallas native describes her sound as "Soul/Folk/Jazz," and has self-released three albums since graduating from college.

At just 24 years old, Emily Elbert has already received numerous awards, including first place in the 2012 B.W. Stevenson Songwriting Contest.

With a voice reminiscent of Norah Jones, she pulls from a list of diverse influences to create a sound all her own on albums like "Proof" and "Alive, In Love."Elbert is working on her fourth independent record release, in addition to keeping up her steady pace of touring around the world.  Emily performs April 20 in Winnsboro, and spoke with Matt Meinke during Notably Texan.

Notably Texan is heard weeknights from 6-9, and Saturdays 7-midnight on 88.9 KETR.
