Engineer appointed for multi-million dollar street project
COMMERCE - Contractors will soon begin mapping out a timeline for when to begin work on Commerce City streets after receiving approval from the council on Tuesday.
Halff Associates will perform renovations to several streets as part of an estimated $4.8 million, three year plan, which includes a less than $1 million commitment from A&M-Commerce and another million from the Texas Water Development Board.
City Manager Marc Clayton says one of the first projects will be Harlow Road, a block west of Commerce Elementary School. It will include a 4-inch asphalt overlay with concrete curb, gutter and storm drainage system. Sections of Monroe and Washington Streets will also receive similar upgrades, including underground utility work, as will university border streets like Bois d’ Arc, Lee, Stonewall and W. Neal.
Clayton thinks work could begin around mid 2012.
