Evidentiary hearing set in Lamar County murder case

By Scott Harvey

Paris – A Lamar County judge has ordered an evidentiary hearing in the case of Danny Holloway, who was convicted in the death of a Paris woman.

Holloway has served seven years in connection to the stabbing death of Ashley Lee, which occurred during a fight outside a club in 2001.

Judge Eric Clifford last year ordered new DNA testing for the knife used in the slaying and the results indicated the weapon could not be used in the stabbing. At the time of the death, forensic DNA testing was either not available or available but not technologically capable of providing probative results.

The hearing will take place Feb. 25.

Holloway's attorney wants the old conviction thrown out and a new trial ordered.
