Ex-Democrat Guilty Of Theft

Nov 8, 2011

A former Democratic Leader in South Texas has been convicted of embezzling about $200,000 in party funds.

56-year-old Dwayne Adams beings his penalty phase Tuesday afternoon in San Antonio. A jury convicted the former Bayer County Democratic Party Treasurer of theft and misapplication of fiduciary property. Adams could face anything from probation to 20 years in prison for each felony conviction. A grand jury indicted Adams in September 2010 for the alleged misuse of party funds raised for the 2008 primary. Adams resigned in late 2009 when the allegations surfaced.
