Expansion of hospital currently not an option

Commerce – The Hunt Memorial Hospital District says plans for an expansion at its Commerce facility is currently not an option.

Plans for expansion of Hunt Regional Community Hospital including building a new lab $320,000 are apparently not feasible. The item was one of several addressed during this week's meeting of the Board of Directors.

Apparently the rules prohibit a new building being attached to the old hospital, and the board plans to discuss what to do in Commerce at a later meeting.

The recent agreement with Premium Cocoa Company and the addition of over 100 jobs initially and perhaps 1,000 eventually, the Commerce hospital may be in line for an expansion. An expansion, however, is not part of any immediate plans. Again, board members will address the Commerce facility at a later meeting.
