Fainting goats, tractor pulls: It's fair time

Hunt County Fair

The Hunt County Fair officially begins at 5 p.m. today, with the ceremonial ribbon cutting at the feet of Fair Boss, along with competitive tractor pulls, fainting goats and “Buddy Day” on the midway.

With the theme of “Building New Traditions”, the 2013 Hunt County Fair and Livestock Show, presented by Innovation First, continues through June 15.

The gates, exhibit buildings and midway are scheduled to open at 5 p.m., with the first night of the Lone Star Fainting Goat Show starting at 5:30 p.m. and the first night of the Lone Star Garden Tractor Pull sponsored by Crawford Smith starting at 6 p.m.

Tonight’s live musical entertainment includes Matt Dunn at 6 p.m., Dirt Road Gypsies at 8:30 p.m. and Brandon Rhyder at 10 p.m.

This evening’s entertainment also featured a Kid’s Rodeo and Kids Mutton Bustin.

It is also “Buddy Day” on the midway. One person with an ride arm band or the correct number of coupons can choose one partner, buddy,or sibling to ride with them for free.

The Kids Zone, sponsored by Discount Wheel and Tire, will include activities like The Great Bear Show, Bumper  Boats, Bubble Runners, Swifty Swine Pig Races and the Texan’s Petting Zoo.

Admission to the Fair is $8 for adults and $2 for kids, with a week pass available for $15.
