Fannin County community to come together Saturday

BONHAM - This Saturday marks Great Days of Service in Bonham, a cooperative effort to improve the town, develop community pride and build positive relationships within the community.

The day will start at 8:00 am that day at the Family Life Center.  Then teams of community volunteers will be dispatched across town to simultaneously complete service projects before gathering together again for a closing celebration. Service projects will include a community clean-up, home improvements, a food drive and nursing home visitations.

Everyone is encouraged to participate. Children ages 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult. More information is available at www.gds-bonham.org. Through October 19, collection bags will be distributed to various neighborhoods for the food drive.

Partnering in the community-wide effort is Bonham ISD, Calvary Baptist Church, City of Bonham, The Challenge-PEACE Project, Fannin County Leader, Fannin County Ministerial Alliance, First Baptist Church, First Fannin Baptist Hispanic Church, First Presbyterian Church, First United Methodist Church, New Life Church, New Zion Baptist Church, and St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church to bring Great Days of Service to Bonham on October 22, 2011.
