Fannin County deputy killed

By Kevin Jefferies

Fannin County – A Fannin County Deputy died early Sunday morning after spinning out of control in his patrol car. 38 year old Rahamy Mitchell was responding to a call just before 1am when his car lost traction on rain-soaked Highway 11 between Bailey and Randolph. The vehicle began to spin and then rolled, ejecting Mitchell from the patrol car. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mitchell had been a deputy for more than six years. He is the first Fannin County law enforcement officer to die in the line of duty since 1931.
