BONHAM - The Bonham ISD Board Monday approved a Declaration of Emergency to help speed the repair process from last week’s storms.

Last Wednesday, strong winds in the Randolph communitywhich damaged several structures and hospitalized three people were later classified as an EF0 tornadoby the National Weather Service.

The previous day in Bonham, winds ripped off the entire roof of the visitor’s Field Houseat Warrior Stadium. Minor damage was also reported at the press box, and winds are said to have blown parts of the baseball and tennis fences down. No one was hurt.

School officials say that by declaring the emergency they’ll be allowed to repair damages in about half the time because they won’t have to advertise work for the job or await bids.
