Fannin County District Attorney Richard Glaser is calling for more money to fight the illegal killing of animals.
At a press conference in Bonham Thursday, Glaser cited the Feb 2 killing of a donkey that belonged to a Leonard resident.
Glaser told KETR today that the problem of “backroading” – or driving around on country roads, often intoxicated and often with a firearm – is a growing problem in Fannin County. Three days after the killing, county sheriffs arrested a man named Blake Cummings in connection with the shooting. Glaser said Thursday that he plans to prosecute the case fully.
Officials are still looking for whoever killed and castrated a horse on private property in the county last year.
