A collision between two pickup trucks near Nevada Wednesday morning resulted in the death of one man.
The Texas Department of Public Safety was still investigating the crash as of Wednesday evening. Trooper Kyle Bradford said the accident occurred at approximately 11:54 a.m. Wednesday on State Highway 78 near FM 6 in Collin County.
A Dodge pickup truck was reported to have been northbound on the highway when for an unknown reason it veered onto the shoulder of the road.
Bradford said the driver of a white Ford pickup which had been following the Dodge believed the other pickup was coming to a stop and began to pass the vehicle, at which point the driver of the Dodge pickup returned back into the lane of traffic and the two pickups collided, forcing the Dodge into the guardrail.
The driver of the Dodge, a 54 year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Ford was not injured, although a passenger in the vehicle was reported to have suffered minor injuries.
