On Tuesday evening 54-year old Jubal Lawson was killed following a single-vehicle crash on State Highway 19 near Tira. He was pronounced dead by Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace B.J. Teer.
Reports state the small Chevrolet car swerved from the northbound lane and struck and tree on the opposite side of the road, trapping the driver. First responders including Hopkins County, Tira and North Hopkins firefighters along with Hopkins County Sheriff’s deputies and State Troopers were on the scene.
Weather conditions were not considered a factor. Investigations continue and in standard procedure an autopsy has been ordered.
