Ferguson, former Sulphur Springs school superintendent, dies

ssisd.net

A former long-time superintendent for Sulphur Springs Independent School District died Sunday in a farming accident, according to myssnews.com.

Scott Ferguson, 79, of Sulphur Springs was pronounced dead at the scene by Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Ronny Glossup, the report said.

A neighbor called  911 on Sunday to report finding Ferguson on his property underneath a tractor. Ferguson did not have a detectable pulse, officials said.

Officials said they were unable to determine whether Ferguson experienced medical difficulties which caused him to fall off the tractor or if he hit something while driving it and fell.

An autopsy, standard procedure in unattended accidents resulting in death, is pending.

Arrangements for Ferguson are pending with Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.

Ferguson was SSISD superintendent in the 1970s and early 1980s. Ferguson then went on to work for Region VIII Education Service Center.
