Field nearly set in council, school board elections

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – Filing for the May 8 municipal elections ended Monday.

In Commerce, two of the three positions up for voter approval are being contested, with Mayor Quay Throgmorton unopposed. For Place 2, Douglas Rohrabaugh is challenging Incumbent Billie Biggerstaff, while Place 4 Incumbent Bob Monday is opposed by Sue Davis.

For the Commerce School Board, both Place 1 Incumbent Bob McLeroy and Place 3 Incumbent Russell Armstrong are each unopposed. Meanwhile, three candidates have filed for Place 2; Elva Resendez, Gabe Wittkopf and Kelly Patterson. The seat is currently held by Donna Tavener who did not re-file.

The filing deadline for write-in candidates is March 15. In May, Commerce residents will also decide on a number of proposed changes its city's charter.

On May 8, KETR will provide election coverage for area council and school board races and propositions.
