Fifth candidate files for May elections

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – Five candidates have now filed for a seat on the Commerce City Council, with two positions receiving opposition for the May elections.

The most recent candidate to file is Sue Davis, who is seeking the post of Council Place 4. The position is currently held by Bob Monday, who has filed for re-election. Candidates for Place 2 include Incumbent Billie Biggerstaff and Douglas Rohrabaugh. Incumbent Mayor Quay Throgmorton is currently unopposed for the seat.

For the Commerce School Board, Place 1 Trustee Bob McLeroy and Place 3 Trustee Russell Armstrong have each filed for re-election, while Elva Resendez has filed for Place 2. Resendez also made a bid for the school board during last year's election. Filing for the May 8 municipal election continues through March 8.

Commerce residents in May will also decide on a number of proposed changes to the city's charter.
