Several candidates have already announced they are running in next year’s political party primaries.

They can officially launch their campaigns Saturday.

Filing for the March 4, 2014 Republican and Democratic Party Primaries is scheduled to begin Saturday, with the last day to file set on December 9.

Candidates seeking an office in a particular county will file with their respective county Democratic or Republican Party offices. Candidates whose jurisdiction covers multiple counties file with the state party offices.

Next year, Hunt County voters will be casting ballots for congress, state senate, state representative, county judge, district attorney, 196th district court, district clerk, county court at law No. 1, county clerk, county commissioners in precincts 2 and 4, justices of the peace and constables.

Multiple candidates have declared they intend to run for the U.S. House of Representatives District 4 next year.

Incumbent U.S. Rep Ralph Hall of Rockwall and Lou Gigliotti of Wylie have indicated they will be seeking the Republican nomination for the office, which includes both Hunt and Rockwall counties, during the 2014 GOP primary. Gigliotti has faced Hall during the past two primaries. Brent Lawson of Van Alstyne and Tony E. Arterburn Jr. of Rockwall have also launched campaigns seeking the Republican nomination.

No Democratic Party candidates have yet announced their intentions concerning the 2014 primary election.

The incumbent State Representative for District 2, Dan Flynn of Van, is also planning to file for the Republican primary in seeking another term.
