Filing begins today for May elections

Commerce – Filing begins Monday for city offices in the May election.

Place 1 on the Commerce City Council is currently held by Tony Henry, while Richard Hill holds Place 3 on the Council. Both have served at the positions for the past two years.

Citizens interested in filing for either Place one or Place three can do so beginning Monday through the City Secretary's Office , located at 1119 Alamo Street. Filing deadline for May's municipal election is March 9.

In Greenville, Places 5, 6 and 7 are up for election. Bryan Herrin currently serves in Place 5, Betty Franklin in Place 6, and Mayor Tom Oliver in Place 7. Filing will take place weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. through March 9 at the Municipal Building, 2821 Washington Street.

In Sulphur Springs, three seats are up for election: Place 1 Councilman Garry Jordan, Place 2 Councilman Clay Walker, and Place 3 Councilman Oscar Aguilar, who is currently serving as Mayor. Filing will take place at the Sulphur Springs Municipal Building, located at 125 South Davis St.
