Filing for council, school board begins Saturday

– Filing for the municipal elections in May begins this weekend. Residents throughout the region will be voting for city council and school board members in a few months.

In Commerce three seats will become available. The Mayor's seat held by Quay Throgmorton, Place 2 held by Billie Biggerstaff and Place 4 held by Bob Monday. On the Commerce School Board, Places 1, 2 and 3 are up for voter approval. The seats are currently held by Bob McLeroy, Donna Tavener and Russell Armstrong, respectively.

In Greenville Places 1 and 2 on the council will be decided in May, while Places 4 and 5 in Sulphur Springs are up for grabs.

Filing for the election runs Saturday through March 8.
