HOPKINS COUNTY - Rather than just county and statewide races on the local ballot this November, several school districts will conduct trustee elections.
Filing for the vacancies at five rural districts is underway and continues through August 20.
Cumby voters will choose among two school board seats, as well as for or against a 12 cent tax increase. If approved, another $219,000 will be added to the district’s budget, minimizing the operating deficit to $100,000, rather than $320,000.
Several local school districts held trustee elections in May, normally held on the same day voters choose between city council candidates.
