Finals for Hunt, Fannin and Rains County Primary Runoff Races
There were six races Tuesday night in three local counties. All but one of the Republicans elected are unopposed in November.
Tax assessor-collector goes to Randy Wineinger, who received 61 percent of the vote in his victory over John Clark. Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace incumbent Sandy Lane Berger was unseated by Wayne Money, whose more than 1,800 votes earned him 53 percent of the vote. Also winning the seat outright Tuesday was David Hale at 60 percent, to defeat David Renshaw for the county Republican chair.
In the only local race not decided Tuesday night, Eric Evans soundly defeated opponent Mike Pierce to win the Republican nomination for the precinct 1 commissioner seat, earning 61 percent of the vote. He’ll face Democrat Jerry Minter in November.
Jerry Magness narrowly beat Kenneth Karl for the Republican nomination for Fannin County Precinct 3 Commissioner. Magness received 457 votes for 51.58 percent, while Karl received 429 votes for 48.42 percent.
Mike Godwin wins the Republican Party nomination for Rains County Precinct 3 Commissioner. He received 57 percent of the vote Tuesday to Paul Foley’s 43 percent.
