Fire at Commerce apartment complex,<BR>no injuries

By Bill Oliver

Commerce, TX –

10 Commerce residents were displaced from a fire Monday afternoon at a local apartment complex. No one was hurt from the fire, which emptied one of the 8-unit, 2-story buildings in the Creekside Manor apartments on Culver, across from Braum's.

Commerce Fire Chief Tommy Eaton said seven of the eight units were occupied. The local Red Cross took care of Monday night accommodations and the chief was told the apartment complex manager will relocate the residents to new units on Tuesday.

A 911 call just before 2 p.m. Monday brought out firefighters from Commerce, Campbell, and Wolfe City. The fire started in a first floor apartment. The fire went up the back to the upstairs unit and there was fire to a neighboring unit on the first floor. There was smoke damage in all eight units.

The cause is still under investigation.
