Fires damage two structures in Hunt County

By Brad Kellar

Hunt County – Several areas in south Hunt County were damaged following two fires Wednesday morning.

Hunt County Sheriff's Lt. Brian Alford said deputies were dispatched to a call at a home in West Tawakoni at around 2 a.m. where the homeowner of a trailer home was found putting out a fire with a water hose. Alford says the home burnt completely to the ground. Deputies with the fire department remained on scene until the homeowner was able to extinguish the flames. No injuries were reported.

No one was hurt during another fire on County Road 2508 in Union Valley, which was limited to a shop building filled with chemicals, paint and tractor equipment. All of the contents reportedly burned and the metal building suffered severe damage, according to Hunt County Fire Marshal Richard Hill. Both fires are under investigation, but neither is believed to have been deliberately set.
