Flu vaccinations in Lamar County today

By Kevin Jefferies

Lamar County – An early flu season has prompted the Paris-Lamar County Health Department to increase their vaccination efforts this year, according to the Paris News. Students in several districts are reporting flu symptoms, with Prarieland being hit especially hard. The health department is recommending everyone receive flu vaccinations this year, and in an effort to accommodate more people, a flu vaccine clinic is being held today from 1-4pm at the Dairy Queen in Powderly.

The shots are $15 for anyone 6months to 18 years of age, and $20 for anyone over 18. These are normal flu vaccines. A vaccine for H1N1, or swine flu, won't be available until mid-October.

The state department of health has also launched an informational website on the latest flu information - www.texasflu.org.
