State transportation officials found no major issues with a proposed project to expand FM 1570.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) published a notice in Sunday’s Herald-Banner, indicating the agency found no significant impact from the plan to extend FM 1570 between State Highway 66 and U.S. Highway 380, which may be part of the long-anticipated “Greenville Loop” project.

In November 2014, Texas voters approved Proposition 1, which provided $1.74 billion to the State Highway Fund in the first year, of which the Dallas-Fort Worth region is scheduled to receive approximately $367.6 million.

Officials with TxDOT and the North Central Texas Council of Governments developed the list of proposed Proposition 1 projects, which include engineering, right-of-way acquisition, and construction of traditional roadways, but exclude toll roads.

No projects in Hunt County are included under the first year of Proposition 1 funding, but the FM 1570 project has been tentatively included on the agency’s four-year inventory.

The proposed extension of FM 1570 has been talked about for years and was included as part of the Small Area Plan adopted in 2011.

The project would consist of the construction of approximately a two-mile stretch of two-lane divided roadway, requiring approximately 70 acres of right-of-way. Almost all of the right-of-way would be acquired from nine land owners, seven of which are individuals.

The TxDOT announcement indicated no homes or businesses would be displaced and all access to adjoining properties would be maintained.

The project is estimated to cost $8 million and is scheduled to be considered in 2018.

Maps, drawings, the draft environmental document and other information are available through the TxDOT Paris District Office, 1365 North Main Street, Paris, Texas 75460.
