Work is about to begin on the widening of a highway which passes by the Boles Independent School District.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has announced crews from DL Lennon is scheduled to start construction on FM 2101 on October 8.

The work will involve the length of the farm-to-market road between State Highway 34 and FM 2947 near Hickory Cove on Lake Tawakoni. The project calls for widening the roadway and bridges, installing a cement-treated flexible base and applying two-course surface treatments.

The work is expected take about 110 days, should be completed by June 2015, weather permitting, and cost a little more than $2.5 million.

The TxDOT announcement warned that motorists traveling in the area may encounter temporary lane closures at times, while the contractor performs spot base repairs and blade patching. Flaggers will be on the route to alert drivers to road conditions and guide travelers through the area.
