Former Commerce star heads to Superbowl as a coach for Chicago

Commerce – There will be a Commerce connection to the Superbowl this year. Wade Wilson is heading to the Superbowl as Quarterback's Coach for the Chicago Bears, who defeated the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Championship game yesterday, 39-14. Chicago will be facing the Indianapolis Colts February 4th in Superbowl XLI.

Wade Wilson was born in Greenville February 1st 1959. He was a star quarterback/punter for Commerce High School. He also played as starting quarterback for A&M-Commerce, then East Texas State, where he was named an ALL-American and earned Lone Star Conference MVP honors his senior year. He was selected to the LSC Hall of Fame in 2002 and the A&M-Commerce Hall of Fame in 2003.

It will be Wilson's second trip to the Superbowl. In 1995, he served as backup quarterback to Troy Aikman in the Dallas Cowboy's Superbowl win. He has been the Quarterback's Coach with Chicago since 2004.
